Background/Why: Last year we focused on having all elementary staff members, not just K-3 grade teachers, complete the requirements of the READ Act. We accomplished this goal with 100% of our teachers and paraprofessionals completing the training prior to the deadline. The JH/HS staff worked on the vertical articulation of curriculum and making sure that standards and content were being taught with fidelity. This work revealed a need for some new resources in Science. We did not resolve our issues with instruction of soft skills and will continue that work this year as we review the graduation requirements and expand our CTE options for students. After completing the READ Act training it was decided that we needed materials/resources that aligned with current practices and science-based instruction. The school district has purchased the Into Math and Into Reading programs and will work on implementing and training for staff this year. This is a continuation of the previous year's goals being accomplished and wanting to grow and continue our work on curriculum and resources matching the Colorado content standards. We consistently show that kids are meeting growth objectives but are still not meeting the achievement goals we would like to see. |
